The SBI V2.0 and Beyond

The Supervisor Binary Specification (SBI) is undergoing rapid evolution, introducing numerous extensions that enable a wide range of features, including power management, optimizing virtualization performance, confidential computing, and system debugging. It is worth noting that the addition of SBI extensions follows a strict policy of only including those that are deemed absolutely necessary. In light of this, it is crucial to evaluate whether these extensions genuinely enhance the software ecosystem in RISC-V. This session aims to provide an overview of the new extensions planned for SBI v2.0 and beyond, shedding light on their importance and the reasons behind their inclusion.
